For the MGM National Harbor New Year’s Eve RendezRouge party, this invitation suite was designed to blend the opulence and excitement of the Moulin Rouge with the interactive thrill of a casino experience. The project was led from initial brainstorming and illustration to collaboration with the vendor for the custom production. The final piece is an 8x8 folding invite, mailed out in a custom envelope to thousands of guests. The exterior features fluffy showgirl fans, illustrated in a dynamic, unfolding design that mimics the dramatic opening of showgirls' fans at a live performance. This not only sets the tone for the event but also creates a sense of anticipation as the recipient interacts with the invitation.
Upon opening, the invite reveals a rotating wheel with a peek-through window, adding an element of surprise and interactivity as it spins to unveil all the party details. The top flap showcases the name RendezRouge and a custom lettered logo, revealed as if stage curtains are lifting to unveil the spectacle. The side flaps are have playful can-can dancers, adding a whimsical touch. The spinning wheel at the center brings together several themes: the interactive nature of roulette, the iconic countdown to midnight, and the idea of guests being transported across the world to celebrate. The invitation not only captures the essence of the event but also reflects careful craftsmanship, blending illustration with intricate diecut design to create an unforgettable, immersive piece that excites and engages its recipient from the very first touch.
